This Peziza was found just off our trail at the Union Bay Natural Area. It was fairly large compared to the other specimen.
The violet color fades as the fungi grows and spreads the pigment out over its increased surface area. It has some purple coloring, but the fruit was yellowed and had a fleshy texture.
This peziza had far more coloring and is intricately shaped. We found it near a large fallen conifer off the walkway next to the Computer Engineering building.
