This fungus is found on many leafy plants often due to the presence of water on the leaves. It spreads spores while it's warm; spores shoot out and are spread by the wind.
It's a "good pathogen" because it keeps its host alive. Plant leaves are more succeptible to powdery mildew when the leaves are young and succulent.
